From feed to food

That’s the main concept behind Faba Factory, an initiative by food designer Katja Gruijters in collaboration with vegan food producer Boon Bonen, to explore the possibilities of faba beans, normally used to feed the cattle. They came up with products such as the Fabatofu or Fababier. Their goal is not only to explore the potential of faba beans, but also to connected producers, scientist and designers in a platform to celebrate this nutritious bean.

We worked for them on the creation of the visual identity, website, illustrations and packaging for Faba Factory. We also teamed up with Dutch product design studio Ant Eye, who built a photography set that would explain the production of the Fabatofu in a fun, quirky way.

For the brand identity, we wanted to create a fun, quirky that felt both loud and welcoming. Bean patterns, poppy colors, and cartoony illustrations helped defining Faba Factory’s personality.

We also designed the whole range of faba beans based products: from faba beer, faba flour, to a kit to make your own faba based tofu!

Faba Factory's website had to of course follow the same brand values in it's design: a fun and quirky web that is easy and fun to navigate. We incorporated animations, gifs, and endless pops of color for a memorable user experience.

Best ideas emerge when you have fun. Ant Eye Studio built this amazing set that we brought to life.

The resulting images and animations were used across all the different brand's platforms to grab the viewer's attention and communicate how simple the process of faba tofu making is.
