MORE ABOUT SHARP & SOUR
Sharp & Sour is a design studio focused on the futures of food. Our mission is to help companies and organisations navigate through uncertain times and new food scenarios, mainly but not limited, through speculative design. If you have an innovative food company or an idea for a futuristic kitchen appliance you’ve come to the right place. We’re a team of multidisciplinary designers who can help you with graphic design, photography, 3D, product development, research and even interior design!
We have collaborated with organisations like Teka, World Design Embassies, BayWa Global Produce, Dutch Design Week or Foodture, and people like renowned food designer Katja Gruitjers or futurist researcher and designer Monika Bielskyte. Similarly, our works have been featured in publications like It’s Nice That, Gestalten, MOLD, Plurality University and Scenario Magazine.

María Fuentenebro
María Fuentenebro has a background in Multidisciplinary Design, graduated with honors in Madrid. Along with Mario, she did a master in Personal Growth and Leadership, were they strengthened their relationship and started conceiving what would become Sharp & Sour. Always fascinated by food and it’s potential to shape the future, she attended the Scuola Politecnica de Design in Milan to complete her master’s in Food Design and Innovation.
Gastronomy has always been the field around which her career revolved. She has worked for different food companies and restaurants on a freelance basis, as well as with the renowned Dutch food designer Katja Gruijters, whose relationship continues to this day. Her other passion, art direction and food photography, has also been a really enjoyable part of her career, with one of her pieces being featured on Bombas and Parr’s book DIY Decadence. She has taken part in different exhibitions such as the 7th Ibero-American Biennale by DIMAD and has participated and organized various talks and design events.

Mario Mimoso
Mario Mimoso graduated from Multidisciplinary Design and Branding, with the highest marks in 2018 (Madrid) and then did a master on Personal Growth and Leadership and another on Advanced Studies in Design in 2019 (Barcelona), where he developed a strong passion for futures and speculative design. During his studies he got selected to exhibit at the 7th Ibero-American Biennale by DIMAD, and one year later, he won the Bauhaus Architecture Radikal contest, attending the Bauhaus 100th anniversary on 2019 to work closely with architect Andrej Bernik, Anupama Kundoo or Frida Escobedo among others.
He has worked both as a freelance and for other companies in a variety of fields, mainly on the areas of graphic design and interior architecture. During 2019 he faced the design of the Mobile World Congress 2020 and started collaborating with The Near Future Laboratory for the Dubai Future Foundation. During 2020 and 2021 he also collaborated with futures researcher Monika Bielskyte, designing and developing Protopia Futures concept designs and visuals.
Mario is a multidisciplinary designer and futurist who loves researching, world building and writing, and is interested in social trends, sustainable futures, politics and speculative and critical design. He is curious and has a passion for learning and reading new stuff, reasons why he jumps from field to field and has an interdisciplinary approach to his work. So far, he can do: concept development, concept art and illustration, art direction and graphic design, interior design and architectural visualisation, speculative and futures design, among others.

Food Concepts and Innovation
We help companies create new food concepts, ingredients or experiences with our unique creative process crafted through the years.

We design for change. We are committed to social impact with bold and unapologetic projects.

We are committed to progress and open to radically new ideas. We’re not afraid to face new challenges and dive into the unexplored.

We are open minded people. We don’t judge because we truly believe free thinking is key to creativity.

No sugar-coating. Just talk to us like you would talk to your bff. Great results emerge when both sides can speak their minds freely.

We’re simply kind people with good hearts <3 We’ve been told that working with us is an easy and chill process.
